Director for a self-funded Scottish charity which gives grants to charities in several fields including biodiversity conservation, international development and human rights. Voluntary position.
The Catrail Charity, a small Scottish charity which makes grants to UK-registered charities in the fields of international development, biodiversity conservation, environmental protection, human rights and homelessness issues, is seeking a director with an interest in biodiversity conservation. This is a voluntary position requiring approximately 5 days per year working from home.
Job purpose
Each director has responsibility in a particular field in which the Catrail Charity is active. There are currently four directors and a treasurer. The Charity currently supports 3 international biodiversity conservation charities, and 9 other charities.
Activities

- gather data, perform and report evaluations of biodiversity conservation charities
- participate in Charity activities, such as AGMs (participation can be by teleconferencing and other remote means)
Qualifications & experience
1. experience of document-based research 2. empirical outlook 3. experience in biodiversity conservation, either field- or office-based, preferred 4. knowledge of UK-registered charities which work in biodiversity conservation preferred 5. knowledge of gathering data for and performing biodiversity conservation project assessment/evaluation preferred 6. knowledge of the duties of trustees

7. sufficient knowledge of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, and other relevant legislation, to help the charity comply with relevant legislation 8. educated to undergraduate degree level and/or with relevant experience
