Dr. Khuraijam Jibankumar Singh is Senior Scientist at CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI), Lucknow. He studies taxonomy, evolution and diversification of gymnosperms especially cycads and conifers. A passionate field botanist and plant conservationist, Dr. Khuraijam believe in expanding our current understanding of species complexes, restricted distribution and evolution of ancient vascular plant group. His interdisciplinary research is aimed in solving taxonomy complexity, and understand evolution and adaptability of species to varied environmental conditions over the time. Besides curation of living collections at CSIR-NBRI Botanic Garden, he has been actively involved in the conservation of threatened species and native ornamental plants of India. He has 13 years of research experience and has published more than 60 papers on plant taxonomy and biodiversity conservation and edited three books. Dr. Khuraijam did his PhD in Botany under the supervision of renowned cycadologist Prof. Rita Singh, GGS Indraprastha University, New Delhi. Dr. Khuraijam is an active member of IUCN SSC Cycad Specialist Group and member of several academic societies.
