Megan Philpott is a Conservation Scientist at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden’s Center for Conservation and Research of Endangered Wildlife. The Plant Research Division maintains a CryoBioBank of cryopreserved exceptional plant accessions, and works to develop tissue culture and cryopreservation protocols for rare plant species. The lab also maintains the Exceptional Plant Conservation Network as a resource for practitioners working with exceptional species. Megan’s work involves the development of shoot tip cryopreservation protocols for rare species, population genetic analysis of rare plant species, and issues of genetic integrity in exceptional plant conservation. She’s also involved in building capacity for exceptional plant conservation by developing online resources. She holds a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Cincinnati (United States).
