Currently I work as Dendrologist at Westonbirt, The National Arboretum in England. My background is Horticulture, Propagation and Taxonomy.
I have obtained Diploma in Horticulture, followed by BSc and MSc in Horticulture at University of Life Sciences in Prague, Czech Republic, which is where I am originally from.
During my studies I have spent a work experience summer at the Arctic–Alpine Botanic Garden Tromsø, Norway. After finishing my MSc, I undertook horticulture/arboriculture internships at the RBG Edinburgh and Benmore BG in Scotland.
I have been a Propagator at the Arboretum Nursery at the RBG Kew for over two years where I have gained an invaluable knowledge and diverse experience in propagation and cultivation of a broad range of plants.
In April 2019 I have started my role as Dendrologist at Westonbirt, the National Arboretum in the South West England. In this always learning job I am responsible for identification and verification of the woody plants within the Living Collection. I am fortunate that I can regularly liaise with the Propagator both in practical propagation and in deciding on propagation targets. I enjoy sourcing and obtaining plants or propagation material of taxa missing in the Collection or rare species.
I use my free time traveling back to Prague on my never-ending project – building my small arboretum, propagating most and caring for all of the trees myself. I am also an enthusiastic beekeeper with eight bee hives, adding more every year, located in my garden.
