In the DRC, the Netherlands, as well in Europe, I am involved in several programmes aiming at the implementation of international commitments on biodiversity conservation and climate change, human rights, the Women Peace Security agenda and the SDG’s in the post conflict zones. In particular in the South-Kivu and North-Kivu (DRC), I have built a strong network that strengthens the efforts for ecological restoration and tree conservation in most affected zones. As founder and director at the DRCC foundation, I recently established the first (Ethno) Botanic Garden in the Kivu, Fondation Jardin Ethnobotanique Kivu, JEBK RDC (www.jardinethnobotaniquekivu.org). The JEBK is a young and first Botanic Garden for tree conservation, biodiversity, food security and sustainable peaceful communities in the post conflict zones in DRC. Together with the university at Lwiro, I am contributing as senior Lecturer to the education and capacity of youth not only in Environmental sciences, but also in issues on the Gender equality, the Good Governance, Peace and Conflict resolution in the Great Lakes Region (GLR).
