2024 Botanical Bridges Congress will bring together gardens from around the region to the host garden, Jardín Botánico de Cartagena, Colombia, from 12 – 16 February 2024.
Oral presentations will be 15 minutes in duration, with a 5 minute Q&A allowance at the end. Abstracts not selected for Oral Presentation may be offered to be presented as Poster. Full instructions on the format and display of Posters will be detailed within acceptance notifications and sent to the presenting author.
The official languages of the Congress will be English and Español!
Congress themes:
• Science, Horticulture and Conservation in Botanic Gardens
• Caribbean Plant Diversity and Floristics
• Caribbean Ethnobotany
• Education and outreach in Botanic Gardens
• Botanic Garden Living Collections Management (plant records, arboriculture, landscaping)
• Botanic Garden Development (master planning, funding, administration, communications)
We have received proposals for very interesting and diverse symposia:
• Flora of the Caribbean
• Conservation Horticulture
• Science-based research and action to promote species recovery and ecological restoration
• Accelerating Conservation Action via the Global Conservation Consortia
• Field Collecting for Ex Situ Conservation
• Botanic Garden Living Collections Management
• Challenges and opportunities for education and outreach in Botanic Gardens post-pandemic
• Global Strategy for Plant Conservation in the Caribbean
All speakers in accepted symposia must submit their respective abstracts through the registration form!
If you wish your abstract to be associated with one of these symposia, please tick the appropriate boxes in the submission form.
Abstract proposals should be 2000 characters max (including spaces)
Timeline associated with call for symposia:
• 11 July 2023 – Call for abstracts opened
• 23 August 2023 – Deadline for submission of abstract proposals
• 4 September 2023 – Notification of acceptance of abstract proposals
Evaluation process and criteria:
Proposals will be evaluated by the Organising Committee on the basis of relevance to the congress themes, appeal to a broad audience, structure and organisation.
There will be a limited amount of bursaries to support attendance to the Congress. Please tick the corresponding box in the registration form for more information.
