Baekdudagan National Arboretum officially opened on the 3rd of May 2018. BDNA is located in the centre of Baekdudaegan, the largest and longest mountain range on the Korean Peninsula, and covers an area of 5,179 hectares. BDNA is established to exhibit, educate, and preserve native plants, rare plants, endemic plants and alpine plants of Korea by collecting and multiplying them. BDNA plays a key role in strengthening biological sovereignty by aggressively engaging in convention on Biological diversity and addressing climate change issues. Also, BDNA contributes to the development of regional communities.

The BDNA has extensive facilities for scientific research such as Seed Vault, Seed bank, and scientific laboratories, and gardens with 26 different themes.
