This will be the first webinar discussing BGCI’s exciting new campaign tackling the illegal trade of plants. One major output of this campaign in 2024, has been BGCI’s latest technical review ‘The importance of Botanic Gardens in Tackling the Illegal Plant Trade’. This webinar will present on the major findings of the report and also highlight some of the 16 case studies from BGCI’s botanic garden network that are included in the report. More information on the campaign goals, strategy and methods of joining will also be presented.
We will hear from two botanic garden partners, The Huntington and South Africa National Biodiversity Institute about the impact the illegal plant trade has had on their work, what current initiatives they are working on and further examples of how gardens might want to get involved. Please join us!
