Botanic Gardens Conservation International U.S., in collaboration with NatureServe, the San Diego Botanic Garden, the United States Botanic Garden, and the United States Department of Agriculture, is conducting a botanic garden collections survey of Vitis and Muscadinia (grape) taxa (including hybrids).
We are seeking accession-level (provenance) information for any wild-origin Vitis or Muscadinia germplasm represented in botanic garden living plant and seed collections.
Results from this survey will inform gap analysis and conservation actions for this priority crop wild relative group. If your institution holds collections of Vitis or Muscadinia, we kindly request your plant records information.
Please send an export of accession data for any Vitis or Muscadinia taxa in your collection (V. vinifera taxa can be excluded, and refer to this template for priority fields) to Emily Beckman Bruns.
The preferred deadline is June 30, 2023.
PERMISSION TO USE DATA:
All data will be managed confidentially and securely, and we are happy to discuss further if you have any concerns.
Please note, by contributing data to this study, you are agreeing to BGCI’s Data Provider Agreement and to the inclusion of your data in:
1. The future BGCI PlantSearch Pedigree tool, which your institution will have the ability to review and manage.
2. A scientific publication, and ideally the accession-level data will be included as supplementary information.
Please let us know if you would like to opt out of sharing your institution’s data further, and we can hide/exclude your data as appropriate.
Many thanks for your critical support of this initiative. Your collections provide the foundation for conservation action!
