The Ninth European Botanic Gardens Congress (EuroGard IX) was successfully held in Budapest, Hungary from May 16-20, 2022. It was organised by The European Botanic Gardens Consortium and the Hungarian Association of Arboreta and Botanic Gardens, celebrating the 30th anniversary of its foundation, as well as celebrating the 250th anniversary of the existence of the Botanic Garden of Eötvös Lóránd University, as the first Botanical Garden in Hungary.

The congress attracted 175 participants from 28 countries. As well as offering a stimulating scientific programme, the congress included a number of popular social events, providing a welcome opportunity for face-to-face meetings and social networking.

The Scientific programme included 70 oral presentations, 6 workshops, and 51 posters. It also included two thematic exhibitions:

  • Exhibition for All Senses – emphasis on visitors with special needs
  • 95 years of Botanical Illustrations
