Global Partnership for Plant Conservation 2025 Plant Conservation Conference Announcement – Taking Action Together- inspiring, guiding and implementing the new Global Strategy for Plant Conservation

The GPPC Secretariat is pleased to announce that the 2025 Plant Conservation Conference will be hosted at Missouri Botanical Garden in St Louis, USA. The conference will run from 12th – 14th March. This conference will be a kick off meeting for the new phase of the GSPC and the new set of Voluntary Complimentary Actions to be implemented by 2030. The conference will be as inclusive and interactive as possible though the sharing of case studies, provisions of lessons learnt and next steps and the building of leadership within the GPPC.

More information on the congress can be found on the Missouri Botanical Garden Website or via the button below.

This conference will bring together plant conservation scientists, policymakers, and practitioners from across the world to consider the new goals of the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation (GSPC), and its Complementary Actions, contributing to the achievement of the goals and targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

The conference will be interactive, with presentations, symposia and workshops themed around the three work areas of the GSPC and the wider Kunming Montreal Global Biodiversity framework (KM-GBF). These are:
1. Reducing threats to biodiversity (GBF targets 1-8)
2. Meeting people’s needs (GBF Targets 9-13)
3. Tools and solutions for implementation and mainstreaming (GBF Targets 14-23)

A GPPC business meeting will be held to facilitate future organizational matters including discussions on indicators, monitoring and outreach. More information will be provided for this in 2025.
It is free to register for this conference and a virtual component is also being explored. To register please contact GPPC2025@mobot.org.
Abstract submission is also open. The required format for abstracts is available below. Abstracts should be submitted by 1st February to GPPC2025@mobot.org.

More information on the conference is available in the First Circular and on the Missouri Botanical Garden website. Both provide information on the conference agenda, registration, conference themes, and logistical information (including accommodation, visas and venue maps). A conference website is currently being designed.

When submitting abstracts (or even beforehand) we encourage you to request a Letter of Invite to support necessary visa applications, so visa preparations can begin with sufficient time before the conference. Please contact GPPC2025@mobot.org for a letter of invite.

We hope to see many of you in St Louis in March. We thank Missouri Botanical Garden for the hosting and organisation of this event.

For any queries please email either GPPC2025@mobot.org or policy@bgci.org
