We are excited to share the success of the recent 2024 Botanical Bridges Congress hosted by the Jardín Botánico de Cartagena “Guillermo Piñeres” in Cartagena, Colombia, from February 12-16, 2024. This year’s congress delved into diverse themes that encompassed the rich tapestry of botanical conservation and management:
1. Caribbean Plant Diversity
2. Caribbean Ethnobotany
3. Botanic Garden Living Management
4. Science in Botanic Gardens
5. Education and Outreach in Botanic Gardens
6. Botanic Garden Development
One of the most notable outcomes of the congress was the significant increase in participation, with attendance doubling from the previous congress in 2022.
Abstracts, presentations, and recordings from the congress are now available for viewing can be accessed on the Congress website:
As we reflect on the success of the 2024 congress, we are thrilled to begin discussions about our 2026 Botanical Bridges Congress. Applications are now being accepted for organizations interested in hosting the next event.
We extend our gratitude to all who participated and contributed to making this congress a memorable and impactful event. Together, we continue to bridge relationships throughout the region and advance global plant conservation efforts.
