For #withNature2020, artist Kate Cendejas Thun, assisted by her son Cosmo and her twin sister Sara Cendejas-Zarelli, constructed a massive Golden Paintbrush (Castilleja levisecta) on Lakewold Gardens’ flag lawn. Cendejas Thun assembled the intriguing, beautifully textured sculptural image from t-shirts, sweaters, rain gear, and other household textiles. The Golden Paintbrush can only thrive in prairie habitat that has largely been lost in our region, and Lakewold Gardens is honored to help raise the profile of this beautiful plant and the vital ecosystem it represents.
