The International Plant Sentinel Network (IPSN) has released a new set of posters and factsheets to help raise awareness of key plant pests and diseases.
The latest set of available resource includes three new posters focused on host plants, highlighting various pests and diseases that affect them. Each poster is accompanied by a detailed factsheet, accessible via a QR code. The posters are designed to support the visual identification of target organisms, with further background and guidance provided in the accompanying factsheets.
The new posters and factsheet focus on:
- Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus) decline: An escalating problem across Europe cause by two fungal pathogens.
- Holm oak (Quercus ilex) pests: Several pests are attacking the hold oak, a drought-resistant long-lived tree with a high ornamental value.
- Boxwood (Buxus sp.) pests & diseases: This iconis evergreen shrub is being affected by a range of pests and fungal pathogens.
You can find all posters and factsheets of the IPSN website:
In addition, IPSN has issued a new organism alert for the Erythrina gall wasp (Quadrastichus erythrinae), a highly invasive pest that poses a serious threat to Erythrina tree species worldwide. Early detection of this pest is vital.
