Seeing the invisible is an augmented reality (AR) art exhibition initiated by the Jerusalem
Botanical Gardens in partnership with Outset Contemporary Art Fund and co-curated by
Hadas Maor (curator of contemporary art) and Tal Michael Haring (virtual and augmented
reality expert and curator).

The first exhibition of its kind, it was developed in 2021 in collaboration with 12 botanical
gardens around the world. These include:

  • Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria (Melbourne, Australia)
  • Royal Botanical Gardens (Canada)
  • Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden (South Africa)
  • UK: The Eden Project, Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh
  • USA: Tucson Botanical Gardens, San Diego Botanic Garden, Denver Botanic Gardens, Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, and the Massachusetts Horticultural Society

The exhibition features thirteen augmented reality (AR) works by established artists from
various countries simultaneously positioned in each of the participating botanical gardens.
Each garden will be displaying all 13 works in their own unique and changing landscapes.

The project is now expanding to find new botanical gardens partners for 2022 – 2023.
