BGCI-US has released a new report titled Conservation Horticulture Expertise at Botanic Gardens, shedding light on the vital role botanic gardens play in plant conservation efforts. The report, developed in collaboration with BGCI-US and the United States Botanic Garden, presents findings from the 2022 Conservation Horticulture Survey. The survey gathered insights from 238 respondents worldwide, providing a glimpse at the work being done in conservation horticulture and how it is perceived by professionals in botanic gardens.

Conservation horticulture brings together a unique and broad skill set that is gaining relevance to biodiversity conservation, and gaining traction across the botanic garden community. This is a time for all botanic gardens to be positive forces against the biodiversity crisis we face, and there are many transferable skills among conservationists and horticulturists. With conservation horticulture as a recognized and vital area of expertise, botanic gardens have the potential to save entire species from extinction. The collective conservation power of the botanic garden community can have an even greater impact.
