Three years ago, the Kew Declaration was signed by over 3000 practitioners, policymakers, funders, businesses, NGOs and researchers from 113 countries following the Kew-BGCI Reforestation Conference in 2021. In response, a coalition of global scientific experts have developed The Global Biodiversity Standard (TGBS) to support the goals of the Kew Declaration, as well as the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. This standard provides independent verification that nature-based solutions are truly achieving their intended goals: protecting, enhancing and restoring biodiversity.
Ahead of COP16, we are gathering together a coalition of scientific experts and organisations to voice our collective concern about the state of biodiversity and to support initiatives that aim to reverse biodiversity loss. TGBS is a key initiative that can help land management projects to achieve biodiversity positive outcomes.
Ahead of the formal launch of the standard at COP16, we are reaching out to invite you to show your support for a biodiversity assurance mechanism that identifies misguided nature-based schemes that damage biodiversity.
We would be delighted if you would sign our statement of support for TGBS which follows in the footsteps of the Kew Declaration.
