Publication of the new Voluntary Complimentary Actions for the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation
This week the new Voluntary Complimentary Actions for the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation (GSPC) were published. These were formally adopted on the 2nd November 2024 at the UN Convention on Biological Diversity CoP16 hosted in Cali, Colombia, but due to overall delays to the CoP16 proceedings the final publication has only just been released.
The full document is available on the CBD website and can be downloaded using this button.
This publication marks the third phase of the GSPC and provides 21 actions for the global plant conservation community to champion and contribute towards the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF).
The Global Partnership for Plant Conservation (GPPC) will now work towards monitoring and implementing the new complimentary actions. To find out more we will be hosting a webinar on 30th January.
A Plant Conservation Conference, hosted in partnership between BGCI, The GPPC and the Missouri Botanical Garden will also be hosted in March 2025. This has the goal of inspiring, guiding and implementing the new Global Strategy for Plant Conservation. For more information on this conference please follow the link below.
