Reverse the Red is a global movement that ignites strategic cooperation and action to ensure the survival of wild species and ecosystems. Data-driven and collaborative, they provide tools and partnerships to unite stakeholders and catalyse conservation impact.

BGCI is proud to be a partner, alongside many other influential organisations, with this incredible initiative that is working towards the survival of species and ecosystems by supporting the delivery of the Convention of Biological Diversity targets.

Why is Reverse the Red different to other initiatives?

Reverse the Red uses a collaborative structure to support governments and agencies in setting goals, planning, and delivering collaborative actions to achieve post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework targets.

Their values are:

  • Always optimistic
  • Always evidence-based
  • Always collaborative

Which encompass their belief that “when we pool our knowledge and work together, with the appropriate tools, we can save species. With focus and passion, we can be the first generation to stop biodiversity decline.”

Reverse the Red day (7 February 2023) is a way of sharing the incredible impact of conservation professionals working to bring species back from the brink. Plus, Reverse the Red has called 2023 a Year Of Action, which is something that we are behind.

You can help us to support the work of Reverse the Red by following them on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube – and also take a look on their website for more information about their goals.

We hope to engage more with this initiative throughout the coming year, so keep a look out for updates on what we are doing to help with global conservation efforts.
