The city administration has suddenly announced the definitive closure of the greenhouse of the botanical Garden “Jardin des Plantes”  this fall, and have begun the dismantling of its unique botanical collection, for reasons of energy saving and maintenance costs.

We, residents and, lovers of this garden, and associations wish to preserve and maintain the integrity of this unique botanical and architectural heritage and remarkable educational tool for generations of citizens, young and old.

We ask the city administration to reconsider this hasty and radical decision and to initiate a process to safeguard the greenhouse and its exceptional flora aimed at restoring it.

It would be absolutely possible to renovate this building but unfortunately the city in this radical decision, which certainly allows it to save money, but to the detriment of our botanical, cultural and architectural heritage. This exceptional building and its 50-year-old botanical collection need care and attention to give them a second life, not to simply be destroyed.

You could certainly help us and support our request by signing the petition and writing us your support :
