A significant development of the International Plant Health Network (IPSN) during 2024 has been the expansion of available resources to support plant health safeguarding efforts.
In collaboration with our diagnostic experts, we have created new informative resources, including pests & disease posters and accompanying factsheets to assist with organism identification as well as launching a new organism alert series to help raise awareness of emerging threats. Furthermore, we have also put together protocols to guide in the monitoring, sampling, and reporting of specific organisms of interest enhancing biosecurity and early detection efforts.
The IPSN members’ contributions in 2024 have also been invaluable, leading to a new blog series available in our website, and the publication of a BGJournal issue focused on on biosecurity and plant health monitoring efforts featuring 16 articles from across the globe.
To further enhance our communication within the network, we have refined our quarterly newsletter with new dedicated sections such as members news, and the publication of a special edition to celebrate Plant Health Week, which included leaflets with accessible links to valuable plant health resources available both within the UK and internationally.
For further information, here is a full list of the current IPSN resources:
- Organism alert posters
- Pest & pathogen posters and accompanying factsheets
- Protocols for monitoring specific organisms of interest
- Blog series
- BG journal focusing of Plant Health and Biosecurity
- Updated newsletter
- Plant Health Checker (and electronic-PHC)
- Special newsletter issue celebrating the Plant Health Week
- Biosecurity leaflet summarising useful links for the UK and at the global level
In 2025, the IPSN will continue to publish regular blogs featuring key work undertaken by our members/partners, develop new plant health monitoring and biosecurity resources, deliver training and share communications with all. Stay tuned into our newsletter and social media for more details!
