Last week we welcomed six colleagues from six separate botanic gardens across Ukraine.

  • Larysa Lisianska (Odesa Botanical Garden)
  • Tetiana Orlova (Kharkiv Botanical Garden)
  • Olga Zubrovska (Kryvyi Rih Botanical Garden)
  • Tetiana Derevenko (Chernivtsi Botanical Garden)
  • Iryna Artiukh-Savluchynska (Zaporozhye Children’s Botanical Garden)
  • Mariia Nadraha (Lviv Botanical Garden)

Thanks to donations received and the work with Partnerships for Nature on environmental education and horticultural therapy, BGCI’s Education Manager Ane Zabaleta and Patrick Mulligan (Kew’s Senior Interpretation Producer) organised tours to the Wetlands Centre in London; a visit to the Chelsea Physic Garden with a great talk by the Director Sue Medway and the whole Engagement team; the BGCI office; a tour across Royal Botanic Gardens Kew with wonderful volunteers; and a wonderful visit to the Natural History Museum and their new gardens.

It was wonderful to meet in person after years of collaboration. BGCI would like to thank Partnerships for Nature, in particular Anthony (Tony) Allison for vision and perseverance and Ariadna Reida for her energy and amazing translation. International collaboration at the heart of BGCI’s work.
