Between 19-20 June 2024, the University of Dundee Botanic Garden will co-host the 4th European i-Tree Conference. The conference includes a first days community of practice based around Urban ReLeaf, a project that the Botanic Garden is a co-investigator for.
We are offering two days of tree talks and workshops, with an optional Dundee green spaces tour on day 3.
For members of BGCI our early bird ticket price is available until the end of April, with a special discount for students. To charitable gardens we are offering a vastly reduced rate, and a code can be obtained by emailing: info@treeconomics.co.uk.
Why should you go?
The 3 days explore the work of botanic gardens and cities as living labs. Learn how to turn citizen science data into action… Where all kinds of data is then used to support local cities in making decisions, develop policies, and set priorities around future urban treescapes. But it’s not always easy to see how such data can be translated into action. You will hear from speakers who have done just this, and how i-Tree and other earth observatory data has helped them to move Nature-based Solutions higher up their local agenda.
Hear from urban forestry experts, from foresight specialists in envisioning and planning for sustainable urban ecosystems…. Meet speakers from around the UK, Europe and the US – for a full programme of speakers, see our conference website. Listen to our speaker from the Ukraine talk about how communities in Kyiv have been able to care for their trees during a time of war and hear from the Eden Project about their landmark new site planned for Dundee. Plus many more!
Attend interactive workshops… Engage in hands-on sessions addressing vital questions in urban sustainability: find out how to carry out an i-Tree project, and use the Urban ReLeaf app, and learn about best practice in tree selection and planting.
Network… With experts and enthusiasts over three days, as well as with our exhibitors and sponsors.
Explore Dundee! Did you know that Dundee is the sunniest city in Scotland? Within our conference package, we are including a free half-day Dundee Treescapes Tour, where you can see some of the city’s landmark green spaces and learn about their history.
