The Red Sudamericana de Jardines Botánicos (RSAJB) would like to invite you to a series of virtual talks introducing you to experts in the different aspects of the role and technical management of botanic gardens in the Latin American region.
From Spain and UK, our panelists will be presenting their project on the research carried out by many institutions worldwide to control new outbreaks of Xylella fastidiosa.
The BeXyl project, ‘Beyond Xylella, Integrated Management Strategies for Mitigating Xylella fastidiosa impact in Europe’, is a project led by the Spanish Higher Council for Scientific Research that is funded by the ‘HORIZON-RIA’ program of the ‘Research Executive Agency ‘ of the European Union (EU). For four years, an international team made up of a total of 31 institutions from 14 countries will seek to combat the phytopathogenic bacterium Xylella fastidiosa and help the agricultural, forestry and ornamental sectors to maintain their long-term productivity and sustainability.
BeXyl integrates the best scientific and technical knowledge available in order to improve capacities to prevent, rapidly detect and monitor new outbreaks of Xylella fastidiosa that may occur in Europe. One of the key members of the consortium is BGCI, which through its International Plant Sentinel Network (IPSN) can provide key information for the development of BeXyl.
The talk in Spanish will be streamed live via Zoom on the 23 February 2023 at 17:00 UK time.
