The Red Sudamericana de Jardines Botánicos (RSAJB) would like to invite you to a series of virtual talks introducing you to experts in the different aspects of the role and technical management of botanic gardens in the Latin American region.
This month the talk is entitled ‘BGCI Accreditation Program: Challenges and Opportunities’.
The BGCI Accreditation Programme is intended for botanical institutions that wish to establish their credentials as botanic gardens. Organizations applying for accreditation will be evaluated on criteria ranging from leadership, collection management, horticulture, public education, community/cultural activities, conservation action, scientific research, personnel, networking and sustainability.
In the Latin American region there are 5 accredited botanical gardens. One of the most recently accredited gardens, the ‘Padre Julio Marrero’ Botanical Garden of Ecuador, will present how they experienced the accreditation process and what it means for their institution to be accredited. With this talk we want to invite to the gardens of the region to apply for accreditation, and to work together to accompany the gardens in their accreditation process.
The talk will be in Spanish and will be streamed live via Zoom on the 27 April 2023 at 18:00 UK time
